Our primary goal this year is to increase the quality and number of the before and after school enrichment programs for our students.  Currently we have plans to sponsor and/or support the following programs for the 2011-2012 school year.

Kid Power

Kidpower of Colorado Springs is the local center of Kidpower International, a 501 (c)(3), not-for-profit, charitable organization, founded in 1989 in Santa Cruz, California. The Colorado Springs Center was established in 1994 to provide comprehensive safety education and confidence-building skills to children ages 3-18 and their families. Kidpower’s mission is to teach young people to use their own power to stay safe from abuse, assault and abduction. Our programs are known worldwide for being positive, practical, safe and age-appropriate.

Science Matters

Science Matters in Colorado is an exciting after-school science enrichment program for your child. Each club meets at Freedom Elementary once a week for 4 weeks. Each club meeting lasts one hour. Meetings are held in the Gym at Freedom on Wednesdays at 2:35. A minimum of 12 registered students is needed in each club. The price for each 4 week club is $56.00.

Every week, our students investigate and explore the world of science via fun hands-on learning activities that reinforce the science. Each week includes a "make & take" project that the students bring home. Weekly parent letters keep you clued into new vocabulary and science topics that we cover in class.  They might include experiments that you can do at home to continue to support your child's interest in science.
